Links A La Mode - For a Rainy Day

Friday, July 31st, 2009

A rainy day can have a silver lining when you curl up inside with a great blog. Personally, I enjoyed so many of these posts, but if you are looking for trends check out Fashion Cents post on wearing rompers followed by Culturistas suggested ways to wear them. For insight and inspiration see Brick my Lane’s interview with Christian Joy, costume designer for Karen O, The Coveted’s review of Lichting 2009 and Our Ocean’s coverage of Vivienne Westwood’s appearance on Jonathan Ross. For a laugh, peek at Unfunded’s collaborative post offerong a man’s opinion on some women’s clothing choices. And if all else fails, try to win your own silver lining in the form of an amazing handbag on Fashion Hippo.

The middle of the week calls for a little fun, even if you are chained to your computer,  so get creative online with Mad Men Yourself to find out what you would look like in the 60’s and J. David McKenny’s Paperdolls for some good old-fashioned (but contemporary) dress up fun to pass the time.

Recently Kate Winslet has been spotted with lighter locks. She seems to look great with many shades from red to strawberry blonde to very blonde, but which hair color suits her the best?

Infatuation List: Fashion Crafts for the Cottage

    Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

I love the joy that comes with wearing one of-a-kind pieces created by my own two hands, but the daily grind leaves little to no time for DIY fashion projects. Summer vacation means plenty of time for hand crafting, but who wants to lug sewing machines and piles of crafting supplies to the lake or beach? With a weeklong cottage vacation coming up, I hunted around some fantastic sites for head to toe fashion projects easy enough to do on the dock and that won’t require an extra suitcase full of materials.
